Relaxing in a Jacuzzi and Other Ways to Reduce Back Pain

With so many of us now spending our lives in sedentary types of work, back pain is on the rise. After all, a cubicle job is bad for your posture, and poor posture isn’t so great for your back. If you’re like a lot of us, your back hurts from time to time, but you don’t want to rely on painkillers constantly. Fortunately, there are lots of other options for people suffering from back pain, from massage therapists to Jacuzzis to robotic massage chairs. Let’s take a look at some of the ways we can reduce or cure our aches and pains.

Hot water has been used to soak away aches and pains for thousands of years, and it’s still helpful in treating back pain. Jacuzzis are a popular choice for people who want a great place to relax. Originally designed by the Jacuzzi brothers and made by the Jacuzzi company, these devices have gotten really popular. Technically, any Jacuzzi made by another company is called a whirlpool tub or a jet bath, but most people don’t use the term that way.

These devices warm your muscles and apply gently pressure in much the same way as a professional massage therapist or the best massage chairs would, but using water instead of fingers or rollers. There are lots of different options available, including Jacuzzis with special lighting, music, and specialty jets. Large and small models are available to suit your personal preferences.

Remember that water weighs a lot, however. The deck or floor of the area you’re having a Jacuzzi installed in will need to be sturdy enough to hold up not just to the weight of the tub and its occupants, but also to the water inside. Talk to an expert to find out more about installation requirements if this is an option you’d like to pursue.

Take a dip for twenty minutes or more to get the optimum in muscle relaxation and stimulation. You can even concentrate jets on particular body parts, like the neck and shoulders or the lower back, to help you relieve tension there. Water has a lot of therapeutic properties and can help you feel more flexible and have a greater range of movement. Remember, the better shape your body is in, the better you’ll feel and the less pain you’ll experience.

There is a vast network of crucial trigger points on your body. Treating them with massage or a spa will help alleviate a variety of symptoms.

Of course, a Jacuzzi isn’t the only way to relieve your back pain, either. If your pain is severe, you should be certain to talk to a doctor or qualified chiropractor or massage therapist. For less serious pain, heating pads and other items are often used. Saunas and steam rooms provide similar benefits to those offered by a Jacuzzi. The steam and heat are great for helping you relax and get rid of the day’s worries. Just remember to pay attention to your health situation before using them.

Weight training can be surprisingly good for posture related back pain, as it strengthens the core muscles we use every day. Make sure you know what you’re doing before lifting, however. Improper lifting could cause more damage than it heals. One solution that also works well, but that many people forget about is a massage chair. They’re effective and pleasant, and they require little effort on your part.

Less expensive in the long term than a trained massage therapist, a massage chair can work well for relatively minor aches and pains that come from muscles which just need to be relaxed. These offer a lot of the same benefits as a Jacuzzi or other methods, and allow you to program your own personalized massage. The best massage chairs will also include some standard pre programmed massages, for when you don’t want to deal with programming your own.

Look for massage chairs that are made from durable materials, and which will help you focus and feel a lot better. They should offer a lot of adjustability and should be powerful enough to provide a good massage, but not so much that they hurt. While a massage chair isn’t the answer for every ache and pain, it can do a lot to help many of us who have every day back pains that aren’t caused by some deeper, more serious problem. If you’re tired of hurting when you get home from work, consider using a massage chair.
