How to Keep Your Massage Chair Running Smoothly

Maintaining the moving parts on your Shiatsu massage chair cannot be done easily by you, therefore it is always recommended that you arrange for a maintenance agreement when you make the purchase. When it is new, it requires no service of any kind. Lubricant is needed when you hear a certain noise from the gears when it is running. You need to be very careful if you are applying the oil, since it must not have oil on any parts that do not use lubrication. Since the moving parts are built into the chair, it does require an expert to maintain them. The chairs usually do not need any of this type of maintenance for about the first three years. It is wise to buy a high quality chair that comes with a good warranty and service plan.

How you clean the upholstery is determined by whether your chair is covered in real or synthetic leather. If the chair is made of real leather, there are several rules you should consider:

• Vacuum your chair regularly, using the soft brush attachment. This will keep the pores in the leather open and breathing. Between vacuum sessions, dust the leather with a dry rag.
• Do not soak leather with a ton of water. A well wrung out, slightly damp rag is all that is needed for wiping. If you use printed towels, the ink could transfer to the leather. Use plain white rags.
• Don’t do any hard scrubbing; nor do you want to use soap.
• Never use any kind of furniture polish or oil on your leather upholstery. All it will do is clog the pores of the leather.
• If you have a stain that won’t wipe off, shop for a recommended leather stain remover spray and follow the directions exactly. Always test the product on a hidden area before using it . Use spot cleaning methods very carefully and sparingly.
• Cleaning solvents and abrasive cleaners will damage your leather. Do not use them.

Maintaining the synthetic leathers is somewhat easier. You still don’t want to do any scrubbing or use any abrasive cleansers on this fabric. Dusting and vacuuming will be virtually the same. Remember to use only white rags when damp wiping.

If you have any stains try to act fast. Scoop it up using a plastic spoon, and if it is a liquid, absorb it in a white paper towel or a clean sponge. Don’t pour any product directly on the synthetic leather massage chair. You can use lemon juice, water, or grain alcohol . Put it on the rag or sponge and gently rub it toward the center of the stain (you don’t want to spread it outward). Rinse the rag out often and wring it out well. You don’t want to transfer stain onto the fabric.

Use water to remove juice, jelly, syrup, ketchup,, and cold water to get rid of blood, feces, urine and egg. Lukewarm water with a bit of lemon juice will take out liquor, coke, tea, wine and beer. For vinegar, hair gel, coffee and tomato sauce, use lemon and then rinse again with water. Use the alcohol on stains which are not water soluble.
